Human Body Detectives Activity Workbook and Audio Cd Review

Dr. Heather Manley created a workbook series called the Human Body Detectives. She wanted to teach her children how the food they ate played a direct role in how their bodies functioned. She knew that it they understood how the Human Body works they would be inclined to make healthier food choices. As a busy Doctor and mom Heather wanted to create something that was educational yet fun for children.
"As a naturopathic doctor and a mother, I continually search for books and resources that provide healthy eating tips and encourage parents to make healthy food choices for kids, and more importantly, encourage kids to make healthy food and lifestyle choices for themselves. I discovered there were very few books out there promoting kids’ health in a fun way, and none designed to teach kids about health by focusing on the specific body systems"(found on the Human Body Detectives Website)
Human Body Detectives is an educational series of workbooks that follows 2 girls, Merrin and Pearl, on their adventure through the Human Body. It is full of action packed adventure and fun for children, while at the same time being educational.
Dr. Heather Manley sent me a copy of the first book in the series, The Lucky Escape, for the purpose of this review. The Lucky Escape follows Merrrin and Pearl through their journey of the Digestive System. There is a fun story to read along with fun activities that reinforce what your child learns from the story. The story of Merrin and Pearls journey through the Digestive System is fun and not boring at all. I even learned a thing or two from it. There are also activities, such as, a cross word puzzle, word jumble, fill in the blanks, label the Digestive System diagram, fun trivia, jokes, stickers, coloring, and so much more. There is hours of fun and learning with the Human Body Detectives.
I was very impressed by how educational the Human Body Detectives Workbook is. The series is definitely something I will be buying once Little Miss Diva is older. I think that it is a great idea to teach children at a young age about their body and how it works. With more educational tools like the Human Body Detectives, maybe young girls can grow up with out body issues and complexes. I would definitely suggest The Human Body Detectives to anyone who wants to teach their children about the body, for little ones who love to learn, and for anyone who has a little one that wants to grow up to be a doctor.
You can find the Complete Human Body Detective Series along with more fun and adventure on the Human Body Detective Website
